This is a top shot! What makes it interesting is the lens in the shot and the fox's reaction to it.......

I was so closed with my UWA that it wanted to eat the lens, literally -?
Luckily no damage was done.
Do NOT be so close to an Ostrich if you value your gear and / or fingers

Nice shot

I once saw an ostrich eat large broken glass pieces from a dropped soft drink bottle that smashed on a rock near where the ostrich was......They are pretty stupid animals like their brother the emu here in Australia . The emus in the Outback even eat dirt they are that stupid ....Thats why I wouldnt have a lens near them either because I wouldnt put it past them to use their beak to try and break it :)......There is also a video on the internet that shows a photographer being attacked and then chased by one whilst trying to take some pics and after also having had it happen to me on the sand dunes near Monkey Mia ( WA AUS) I now give them a damn wide berth when I come in contact with them these days :)

I was hand feeding an ostrich at Hunter Valley Zoo (north of Sydney, Australia), and the bugger thought it would be a good idea to try to swallow my hand as well as the food... much delight from a small child nearby, but when he realised that his dad hadn't caught the action on camera, he asked me to make the birdie eat my hand again... which I happily obliged... lol! Ostriches don't have teeth, and it's easy enough to extract your hand, so why not? Made the kid's day... hehe!

As for Emus... love them to bits myself... taught one where I was working to roll over for tummy rubs... I loved that bird so much, and he was completely besotted by me too... lol! He did seem to think that I was his "life partner", so I couldn't go into his enclosure during breeding season... unless I wanted to be fending off a very large lovestruck bird!

One bird I won't go too near is a Cassowary... they are nuts... cranky, nasty, nuts!

T.

I had a cassowary smash my wing mirror whilst driving through the Daintree. I wouldn't mind but I sat there for a good 10 minutes waiting for it to get off the road when it decided to have a go at me. Good job I had the windows up! I saw some chicks on the side of the road about 100 metres earlier so I'm guessing that was the parent
