Lets start from the beginning, put camera on a tripod to eliminate any shake. try a different lens in the same scene. Try to pick a subject where your focusing can be verified, in the bridge shot for instance, I would be aiming at the water so its hard to say if you hit focus or not ( my X Pro1 would miss focus on the most high contrast images ). I can take a few shots of a similar scenario tomorrow if you wish, I only use my 56/1.2 for portraits of the kids so have no images to compare.
Hey thanks for your input.. and offer to take comparison photos ..
I've decided to return the lens to play it on the safe side.
To begin with , when I recievd the lens , that very moment I opened the box (which look a bit like it had been around) and unwrapped the lens my first thought was .. "why 's it dusty?.. and is that a finger smudge on the barrel? "
so theres already been some suspicion that it was a return, that got rerouted to me ..
and now this sharpness not being what I thought it would be ... well i'll never feel comfortable with it
so for peace of mind its going back , label printed shipping out tomorrow ..
and to all who took the time to look
