My spidey sense is tingling. For two reasons. Photog A, great portfolio. Amazing work, but his prices. But: Someone who has studied with the greats starting price at £250.00? Come on. In Berkshire, you could add a 0 to that, and that's without his industry credentials. If I was that good, I'd be booked every week. The only association I saw was MPA. Didn't look at the rest apart from wedding photography and a baby award. The baby award was local, not national. That should set alarm bells ringing.

Photog B is just as impressive. Great portfolio. However, I definitely Don't think he's your guy. B has all the nouse to do the right things. Yet, your photos don't have that extra bit of flair B's do. If my work was as good as B's I'd be made up, but it's better than what you got. So, what can you do? Have you done a google image search on photog B with the word photographer? Is there a pic of him on his site with a camera? As I said, yours are not taken by the guy who took the ones on B's website. If you show others the links, I'm sure they'll agree.

It says on Photog A website under wedding terms and conditions he's LBIPP LSWPP and LMPA - which he's not. He also uses the post nominals as his Facebook name. I wonder what it means when people say they studied with someone. He could have done a cookery class with Jerry Ghionis or he could have studied with him before he was famous (although I've not heard of him). It also says on his website he's been into photography since 1981 but when I spoke about film he knew absolutely nothing about it. I can't remember what he said but he contradicted himself in one sentence.

Photog B has no photos of himself but on his Facebook page seems to just recycle images from the website or has random photos from around the town. It is possible they're not his photos. If they are his, I'd say he's done 3 weddings max or he's done three weddings that had a few acceptable images. He did have a few acceptable ones from ours.

It does all seem odd but hopefully I'll get the raw files as promised as we can move on. If anything this has spurred me to go for my LRPS which I've been to lazy to do until now.

Jerry Gihonis one of the most influential photographers of our time. His reputation is second to none. Google him.

I wasn't saying he's not famous, just that anyone can say anything on the internet.

Funny, but to me the other flowers look sharper.

Sharper than what? I had to retake the bouquet as it had motion blur.

This is one of the photos my wife specifically asked for, as it had a photo of her mum in the locket thing....

Well we received the NEF files yesterday. He'd sent us 135 images originally and we now have 475 to go through. Only had a quick look but some of the ones he didn't send are better than the ones he did! A lot of the blurred images were shot at 1/30 or less (some as low as 1/4).

At least we can salvage something, thanks for everyone's input and advice.

I've been reading with interest. Glad you got the whole bunch of pics. With a quality bit of processing and some clever arranging in a nice photo book/album, I'm sure you'll both be happier with the results. Good luck :-)

I'm no "turd polisher" but I think we'll get some out of it!
