I can relate to it. In my previous home i had a backyard laced with thousands of $ in flowers and one day were all demolished
by those gorgeous Bambis. I grated several cakes of Irish Spring soap to keep the beasts away and it worked like a dream...the flowers grew their pretty heads again and the beasts turned their noses on them :)

I have to look into this Irish Spring soap solution. I have the same problem. I don't get to enjoy any flower out in the front.

Try it, please. But there's no guarantee. Your Bambis may be some gourmet freaks and sniff the soap like crazy and enjoy your flowers.
I tried coyote urine, foxes urine and everything else and that silly soap worked...but heck it also worked on me as a repellent...hated that strong smell :)

Do you just sprinkle the shavings on dirt?

Yes. However if you get a lot of rain, you may need to add more. Grate it coarsely and good luck :)
