Pretty harsh lighting, Olafs! I don't expect that you'll be getting any extra servings at dinnertime... or anytime else! ; D

Not sure about the amount of cutting/cropping at the top, at the bottom it's perfect. - I like her and the way you portray her very much.

Lighting is a little hard.....not terrible.

I kind of like it.

I like it a lot and might be really interesting in a series of portraits taken the same way. It is an honest straight forward approach which I really find far more interesting than the glammed up over made up, over art worked and so called flaws covered up lies we mostly see. Kind of reminds me of the straight forward honest approach that Avedon took with his In the America West portraits.

Really strong portrait.

I really like your pictures, they are pretty much right on the money, but in this one, after taking a look at it multiple times, in my opinion, the forehead is just a little too bright.

Not for me. This picture reminds me of Kathe Kollwitz in fine art: stark lighting to convey more expressionism. There's definitely defiant attitude in the facial expression, and the harsh shadows accentuate that. The forehead is bordering on the edge of blown highlights, but seems well controlled for the intent.
