I just picked up a 40d as a camera to use and not worry in the case it gets damaged or stolen, etc. I own already a Canon 6d for professional work, but I rather keep that at home and not risk damage or theft to it in public, etc. After playing around with the camera all day, I can understand now why this model is a legend! I got it for $180 including battery, charger, 8gb and 2gb cf card, and bag. I plan on slapping a 50mm stm on it and bring this along with me everywhere.
I also got it maybe 6 months ago for around $200 with 2 batteries and a charger. My first intention was to use it only for time lapse in order not to ramp up shutter count on my 6D to quickly, but soon realized how usable this camera still is so now I use it even for everyday photography.
