A couple more from France. This is the Somme American First World War cemetery at Bony, Aisne, France. Very sombre and beautifully maintained.

Hi all,
I've just picked up a 80D body after about 7 years of using a 500D - to say that I'm impressed so far would be an understatement. It's going to take a little getting used to but so far - WOW!

Other things are not equal. like FL at closest focus...

Looks like maximum repro ratio is 0.31 for the Canon, 0.26 for the Sigma.
Less difference than one might think, just looking at close focus distances.

Sigma's half a stop darker, optically slightly better, much lighter (about 40oz/1133g versus 60oz/1700g ) , Canon just edges the AF, and has a tripod collar.
Sigma's so much cheaper though, you could buy a spare body!

Not sure if a third party Tripod collar is available for the Sigma. ?? Anyone??
I bought a £12 one for a Canon 70-300L, which I use a lot, it's fine.

Sigma makes a collar that works with this lens though it's not specified as such. You use gaffers tape to take up the extra space and help protect the lens. I want to say it's Sigma TS-31, but a little further research wouldn't hurt anyone interested in pursuing such a solution.

Hi Mike,

Thanks, glad you like it.
When I first brought it into Lightroom, I didn't like it at all but when I converted it to black and white, it grew on me.

Gord

Ive saved otherwise boring shots just by switching to B&W myself.
