Then you have lots of options.
The 24-70 F4L IS is a great lens regardless of sensor size, as long as you like the focal range, it's less heavy than the F2.8 flavors, it's not a tiny lens, but it's not a huge brick either.
I take it you have you no interest in the 18-135 STM or 24-105 STM?
I was surprised how snappy and good the AF is on the 18-55 STM. Dead silent, and just as fast as anything else with USM that I've used. Impressive. Though I know not all STM lenses have the same AF mechanism; I know the STM motor of the 24 STM, 40 STM and 50 STM are not nearly as fast as the 18-55 STM and they're louder.
No not considering either of those STM lenses, but thanks. I have previously owned an 18-135mm STM and while it has great features and zoom range, I found its image quality to be lacking too much for me. I've spent a lot of time thinking what would be my next lens and it seems like the 24-70/4 is the best option for me right now.

I would get the 24-105 f/4 over the 24-70 f/4
Effective reach on the long end is approx 160 vs 110
I use it on crop regularly. Not sure what the 24-70 mfd is, but the 105 is pretty good for an inexpensive zoom.
Thanks, I have previously owned the 24-105L, but had problems with Err01 and I like the idea of the more modern 24-70/4 with better IS and improved image quality. It also has a much lower MFD using its macro mode, which results in a 0.7x magnification (vs. 0.23x on the 24-105L). Curious about that as well for those random macro shots.
