This thread is in a gear forum, not really a picture sharing forum. It's where gearheads hang and discuss camera down to the nut and bolt. There are picture sharing and camera sample forums as well that is photo oriented.

Really? Naw..just helps my sore back and elevates eye fatigue resulting in more keepers. Ultimately, isn't that the goal?

Obviously depends on how one defines Image Quality.

This is where your making it confusing. More keepers doesnt mean better iq. You enjoying your new camera and using it more does not mean better iq. Coming home after shooting all day not tired doesnt mean better iq.
Now all those things are praiseworthy aspects in any camera but that doesnt improve the iq.

Yes I know, but the thread title does say " 6D Mark II Owners Unite! Discuss and post Photos ". :-)

Well different people have different requirements in a body, and I find it hard to believe that you are obtaining a 100% hit rate on the BIF type shots in your gallery especially while using a 6D.

Please show me anywhere that I intimated that I had a 100% hit rate. In fact, please show me anyone using any camera that has a 100% hit rate shooting at any subject.

I do, however, shoot a lot of BIF and I have no trouble at all catching a great number of good, usable pictures. You just have to know how to use your equipment. ;-)a

Never mind BIF shots, I fail at that with BDotG (birds dead on the ground) :):):)

Is it wrong for me to try to avoid BDotG? ;)

I guess this is the part of the conversation that went over your head then so let me recap:

Better AF system > more pictures in focus > better quality of shots.

Since you said you don't have trouble focusing on whatever you need, then that means it is impossible for you to get more photos in focus and you thus by definition are getting a 100% hit rate and thus had issue with sixdeefans comment. We know this is not true. The reality is that you don't have trouble focusing maybe 90 or 80% of the time but we know your statement suggesting 0 problems is a load of BS.

Regardless of how awesome you think you are handling your camera, if you are not getting a 100% hit rate, then a better focusing AF system would improve your photos.

Did you miss the Discuss part of the thread title or did you just think it was post photos? :p Kidding aside, I am with you and would like to see more of how this camera is working out for people via photos.

There are 2 ways to define IQ from my perspective

1. Objective using quantifiable sensor & lens centric metrics, standardized tests, post processing and comparisons against a baseline
2. Subjective using one's preference, experience and interpretation

To have a useful conversation you have to identify which one you're talking about. You also have to be fair in the evaluation of the results.

There is nothing inherently wrong with using 2 as a discriminator as it can represent real world use as opposed to absolute performance under ideal conditions which some of us never shoot in.

If you can't get into a comfortable shooting position because of physical limitations a flippy screen and IS absolutely contribute to better image quality in the final product. Does it change what the sensor is ultimately capable of? No of course not. We just have to clear about what the discussion about.

I really don't think Bob was implying that he's getting a 100% hit rate. I will say this, I've been pretty impressed with his bird photos. I have a 1D IV and just got a 6Dc... I wasn't even considering using the 6Dc for birds and wildlife. Bob has made me reconsider that.

I'm sure those of you with a new 6D Mark ll will enjoy your camera. I guess the only reason this thread has taken this turn at the moment is.... the 6Dc will still take great photographs.

That said, the articulating screen is nice. I have one on the 70D my wife inherited from me.. and my old 60D. It works great for macro, among other things. An improved AF system is always welcome.

Ooooo......oww.....boy, you got me there. :p

You have quite an imagination.

Very little gets over my head, friend....except birds.

Listen, chief....use whatever hardware that makes you feel like a real photographer. If it makes you happy, then good on you. I am certainly not going to get into arguing 'hit rates' with you or anyone else, primarily, because it doesn't matter to anyone.....except, perhaps you. I do just fine with the equipment that I have. Maybe someday, you will too. ;-)a

I know for myself personally, my hit rate has gone up considerably since getting the 6D2. My Sigma 85mm performs as good as a native lens now so no more having to use the center point only, I can finally use the outer AF points as well.

Properly in focus means sharper images which also means better IQ. Also the 6DII does seem to have a slightly weaker AA Filter which adds to it's improved IQ.

If it's not a satisfactory upgrade for someone, that's more than fine. But please don't be petty and try and ruin our enjoyment of this amazing new body.

So I'll take that as "sorry my previous comments were in error then." I'll just list you under the long yet growing list of Internet personalities incapable of admitting fault.

As I previously posted in this thread - THAT IS TOTALLY WRONG. This thread is for PHOTOS and discussions of those photos. The kind of discussion and arguing that is going on here belongs in this thread:

http://photography-on-the.net .../showthread.php?t=1482880

I can't, for the life of me, figure why you folks are mucking up this thread with this rhetoric and so few photos and discussions of those pics.
