Still finding my way around the 6D but here's a bit of a pommy whinge to follow
Just had 3 days in the mountains/rain forest. The first day was ruined by two guided tours of Chinese people who's Australian Chinese speaking guides thought it essential to stereotype their clients by speaking as loudly as possible without actually shouting. God knows what they managed to show their clients as I saw nothing despite putting plenty of distance between us and moving off the track into the undergrowth. Anyways, now I've got got that off my chest!
I decided to opt for the 6D due to it's amazing low light focusing ability (I wasn't disappointed) and abandoned the reach of the 7Dmkll and convertor because invariably, I am on top of a bird anyway before I know it's there in the rain forest as most of them I've encountered rely on their camo and you only see them if they move...............2nd disaster was that no way could I get the 6D to high sync with my 580EXll despite trying it in all "user" modes manual, AV, Sp. There's not much on google other than to say that you simply have to put the flash in high sync mode and the camera settings are up to you but all I got at high shutter speeds was a blank screen despite the flash firing. I must be missing something? Anyways, the cameras fastest shutter speed of 180 when in AV resulted in ghosting so the flash was dumped.
If you've got this far then the previous aside, I'm over the moon that I got four firsts and found another Alberts Lyrebird pair and that despite my poor PP skills, high iso and slow shutter, the fact that these birds are new to me means I'm calling 'em keepers and you'll have to put up with them. First up is Albert with more to follow once I get round to PP. They might look bright but I can asure you, it's bloody dark in there!
Also posted on the 100-400 mkll thread if you want to see the exif
