You're definitely right about that - the scale that is Yosemite is pretty tough to capture fully. If it wasn't for my fisheye I wouldn't have been getting all the full shots that I did because all these famous spots are HUGE and right on top of you when you see them!

Absolutely incredible place though, the memories alone are even more valuable than the pictures I took in my opinion :-D (though having the pictures turn out make it that much better haha!)

But yeah trust me, I heard that too about Yosemite and the traffic and was praying we wouldn't see any of that! And thankfully we did NOT experience any of that, it was just a couple of minutes if that to get through the park entrance, and then the traffic of tourists wasn't bad at all - we were able to find parking spots with ease every time! But yeah they do have a shuttle system and everything within the park, and buses that take you in and out from outside the park as well.

Unfortunately we were not able to make it up to Glacier Point, which was absolutely heartbreaking to me - it was top on my list. :-( The south entrance, and road leading up to it was shut down due to a significant wildfire. Which was a huge bummer because the smoke from that obscured big views, and one morning was making the air quality pretty bad. Though, I still got one incredible view in and that was from Clouds Rest - a 14.5 mile hike that tops out close to 10,000 ft in elevation haha!

Thanks folks!!!

Wow!

Well maybe the hike was even better if you got a bit of solitude! Just sucks because we have snow until July in places, then wildfires in Aug/Sept, then road closures come Oct (Tioga pass). I lucked out and both happened to have been closed but then re-opened the 3rd week of October in 2009.

Sounds like you had an ideal trip!

If you get a chance, Zion / Bryce are pretty close to eachother, both worthy of a trip especially if you can hit 'em in the next 4-6 weeks

Hadn't been able to get out in the past couple of weeks, but I was able to steal an hour or so this morning. Sunrise at a park on the lake near my place.

Those are always cool moments, especially when you get the wind change of direction, and changes in the shadows. Great time lapse material too

Went hiking around Mount Rainier yesterday (Sunrise side). The smoke was pretty bad on the drive east, but it cleared up as we climbed in elevation. Still had a bit of coughing, but it looked very pretty out!
