Received my 6D in the mail Friday so had to get out on Saturday to test it out . Heres one of the first shots I got with it.

No. 4.5fps continuous and 3fps silent continuous. The buffer will accommodate 15 raw frames. Takes a bit for the buffer to clear, depending on the speed of the card.

There's a lot of conflicting info out there with regards to the 100-400mkll and teleconvertors on the 6D so I thought I'd post this here and on the lens thread. The Kenko 2x pro300DGX does work with this combo.......or at least it does with mine, despite Kenko saying it doesn't. It hunts like buggery in poor light but is fine in good light. It's howling a gale out there atm so at f11 and slow shutter speed, no use testing quality yet but I will post some asap

I also have a 6D, a 100-400 mkII and a Kenko TC. However mine is a 1.4x Pro 300 DG (ie not DGX), and while single point autofocus works on my 80D (the body recognises that the TC is present, and only permits centre-point autofocussing), my 6D will NOT autofocus with the TC.

The 6D is aware that the TC is there, as the maximum aperture changes. I have just had the 6D firmware upgraded to 1.1.6 (I think it was previously 1.1.3) but this did not change this refusal to autofocus. My lens firmware version is 1.0.6. The camera does not report the TC.

By contrast, my 6D will autofocus with my Tamron 70-200 and the Kenco 1.4X TC, but this is an F2.8 lens...

Question Kevin - what is the maximum (wide open) aperture displayed by the 6D with your 2x TC fitted, at 100mm and 400mm ?

f9 at 100 and f11 at 400. Kenko also states that it will cause a malfunction with the Canon 2.8 (non iso) macro. With this lens it functions correctly until such time as you switch the camera off, but despite the shutter cleaning process being shown as it closes down, you can still see through the viewfinder and this only shuts down after you remove the teleconvertor and switch the camera on and off again.

OK - so how the !@#$ do you get a 6D to autofocus at f9 - let alone f11?? With the 1.4x I get f6.3 and f8, which at least gives me some hope it might work

This article (and table) tells us what we thought we knew - no autofocus beyond f8, and only some Canon bodies can do it. The 6D is not supposed to even support F8!!

Yeah! Weird ain't it. Kenko specifically says no, but I took a gamble after researching that others had it working OK. Can't wait till tomorrow's sun to check it out. BTW, I ordered it from Hong Kong on Saturday and got it this morning. Stuff from Sydney is taking a week and more. Go figure! You forgot the link BTW but I'm guessing it's this one

On the chart it says it works with the 100 macro but a note shipped with the lens specifically says not to use it as it causes malfunction

Doh! Thanks - I've fixed my post - it's actually an independent guy (Dan Carr), but he's using Canon info, not trial and error like us . Apparently if I had a Mk3 Canon extender, then more than one focus point would work with my 80D, and if I had a 6D MkII then it would autofocus just like the 80D!

Anyway - out of all that - thanks for the heads-up on the Kenko 2x Pro 300 DGX, although I doubt my technique would justify that much reach!
