Over the past few days I've had a red admiral butterfly visiting the garden. It seems to have got used to me and allowed me some pretty close shots.

Sony A6000/Sigma 105 OS. Natural light except #6.Handheld. Many of the shots have been focus stacked

Brian,
The last one is very nice. I liked the extreme closeup the best though. The detail is amazing. How close to the subject are you when you're composing one like that?

Thanks Steven for the comments :)
For the close up the end of the lens was about 2 inches away.

That's impressive that it let you get that close to it. Sometimes they just want their picture taken. ;-)a

Thanks Toby. This one has been coming back to the garden virtually all week.

Great set Brian. There seems to be quite a few Red Admirals around. I've got some feeding on Ivy in the corner of my backyard. It's a bit of a stretch to get at them most of the time, but you've encouraged me to try harder.

I think it's supposed to have been a good year for them.
