I've been away from the camera for too long. (an old shoulder/back issue flare-up)
Time to start shooting again.

As a "recovering" patient of two neck surgeries and back surgery, I can totally empathize with this challenge. Not sure what you use for a strap, but I found my neck and back issues greatly diminished when I use a Black a Rapid strap that goes over my shoulder. Sorry to go OT, just want to recommend it and hope you feel better!

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

Black Rapid is what I use when shooting shorter lenses (under 200mm these days).
Longer lenses are now always done with a monopod. I should probably get used to shooting from a tripod sooner rather than later.

Nice, I haven't seen one of those before. iBird is telling me its a red crested Cardinal from Hawaii.

Thanks! I do wish people would identify/caption their images/subjects!

Thanks. Here are a few other hummer shots of mine you might enjoy. The newest ones are at the bottom of the page.

David you were right to keep the whole window frame in the image, with the colour of the ivy it makes it a very pleasurable shot, Fantastic!

Definite wall hanger!

Thanks ! :-)
I've been away for a bit, trying to catch up.
Funny, for all the "more exotic" birds I've shot over the last couple years, this simple Robin family has gotten more reaction than anything else !

Bearded Tits are absolutely stunning birds, they make a very distinctive ping sound. You cannot mistake it. I have seen flocks fly around with as many as 20 birds. They move their way through reeds normally low down and on the odd occasion they will pop up now and then. They come and go. These were on the Somerset levels. The females do not have the black moustache/beard like look as the males do. I took these this around 8am this morning. It was very over cast, cloudy, and just dull morning.

It was a wonderful shot Dave, sometimes it does not take just rare exotic birds, it's the composition and setting that makes a great photo. I would of been proud to of taken that photo. It really is that good.
