I have begun looking at some smartphone apps related to cloud cover and light timing. The light timings could be very useful to get a better idea of the location and situation before spending hours in the car to find out the lighting is wrong due to the landscape.

Anyone have any experience with these applications?

Cloud cover prediction could be cool too; however, these seem a bit gimmicky to me.

I should mention my main smart device is Android based (Samsung Galaxy Note 5)

Being based on 2011, the content is old but the links below might help you get started on some useful apps.

Check out MeteoEarth (external link). I only got it to work once, as it started crashing on my Pixel... not really sure why. It was really neat when it worked, I'd recommend giving it a try.

I'm interested in this too. I've heard about Skippysky but it seems to think North America is only the US so I can't see Canadian maps.

I recently bookmarked Clear Sky Charts so will check it out one of these days to see if it is accurate.
