Growths of fungus on bark of a street tree. They looked like bread dough. Each was about the size of an adult's hand or larger. The one in the first photo was the smallest, but it was closer.

Looks like an Indian Pipe (what we call them anyway) and a great shot of them.

If so they do feed on fungi - so I would call it related :-)

First time I've seen the heads upright with the rings inside. Usually they are more of a pink color in another place where I've seen them. Where these were, they are mostly white. I thought they were a fungus. Wonder what response I would get in the flower thread?

looks like it could be a fungus parasites . I have not noticed these looking like this.
