I only have an MC-11, but it worked well on that. Others on FM and DPreview are saying that it works on the metabones IV and other adapters as well.
My impression was always that you needed hybrid AF for eye focus to work, but the interesting thing is that it works in the pure PDAF mode the camera jumps into when you put adapted glass on. I'd guess that this is only possible on the a9's AF system. PDAF is much better on the a9 than the a7rII, and it's most noticeable with adapted glass. Adapted glass always performed like native glass on the a9....the only glaring thing that stood out was that eye AF didn't work. Lock on focus and expandable point AF still do not work with the new firmware though.
It can be reasonably assumed that eye AF will work on the a7III, a7rIII, etc.
I now have an itch to try the TAP with some Leica glass.....
BTW, beware of TAP issues
the adapter is not very suitable for landscapes as it can tilt small amounts, both of my TAP's have this problem.
support is borderline nil, and you have to send back to china for service if needed, firmware updates can brick your TAP!
The range is limited, so longer lenses like a 50mm+ you need to prefocus a bit for closer focus. 35mm and wider lenses behave like regular lenses, just park at infinity.
When shooting live, you may knock it out of infinity, and adapter may not be able to focus, so it should be in the back of your mind whenever you shoot it.
infinity is NOT hard stop infinity, you'll have to find it per lens since the adapter allows you to focus past infinity.
Floating lens elements dont work well with TAP, performance should be hit.

with that out of the way, it's been lovely with my CV 35. I dont think I will use it for anything else anymore due to the issues. The AF is similar to Metabones/MC-11 with non art lenses. It's been very fun. As for the 135A, the MC-11 was an issue up to 1.07 and probably will continue to be an issue. I'de rather use in green mode of the Metabones. It does work very well with MBIV and latest firmware. Even does eye AF better than the MC11 when using advance mode. Hopefully the rii gets these firmware trickled down, eye AF with TAP would be nice.
