In the park lake. Manchester, UK. This is also posted in the Canon 80D thread, my usual habitat, but I'd particularly interested to see what you birders think, particularly of my second pic, of a great crested grebe.

This second one was a mistake really, absolutely no contrast between the bird and the water. But a bit of work in Lightroom produced this. A magazine in the UK, Outdoor Photography, often publishes wildlife images like this with a burnt-out background - usually snow, of course. Well, it's different and I have to say I quite like it. Any thoughts?

Experimenting with new techniques for processing bird pics. This is a Yellow-Crowned Night Heron (a juvenile), a rare visitor here in Nova Scotia. The eye is natural colour, but enhanced in vibrance and brightness. I turned the rest into black and white, and added a black background.
