when they came through michigan, the design engineer (not the guy running the engine) said theyre still only in evaluation. there was no plan "at this time" to purchase these new engines...

Not a model. It's a real freight train on a cloudy morning. The cloud cover was just above the tracks.

The mountain on the left looks fake. And the tracks look odd. I wasnt complaining fyi. Was gonna say the engine looks amaizing if it is a model!

To me, the mountain does not look fake... the whole picture looks very real to me. I could tell the train was not miniaturized.

Caltrans has purchased 22 of them. Amtrak operates the corridor trains here but the equipment is owned by the state. Caltrans funds three intercity rail routes in the US:
the Pacific Surfliner: San Luis Obispo – San Diego
the Capitol Corridor: Auburn to San Jose
the San Joaquin: Oakland/Sacramento – Bakersfield
