GAS alert problem. i'm tempted to buy the Laowa 15mm F2. somebody please tell me it's not good. lol

i hope it can record exif data though like the CV15III. looks like it's not.

No EXIF with Laowa lenses. CV 15mm (e-mount version) does provide EXIF data.

Vinz, it appears to be a solid performer. You won't find another wide angle at f2 on the market for Sony E-Mount at this time. It actually focuses pretty close and has decent bokeh. Yeah I don't think it transmits EXIF but I could be wrong. It does take filters though.

Thanks for confirming this. The F2 and less distortion is hard to pass though. Plus it accepts 72mm filter which i already have.

It's really appealing especially the F2. i wonder also if the infinity is a hard stop like the CV15.

Read all 8 pages of Laowa 15 @ FM. Fred said the infinity is not at the hardstop but at the very center of the infinity symbol. hmmm

Same here Vinze, but luckily the Milky Way season is basically over here in upper east TN....checked after midnight and clouds of course.
So the Lawowa 15/2 would be primarily a Milky Way lens and won't see much use until next April....so for me plenty of time to see it used
by people in the know.
Some things going for it out of the chute-
it's e-mount from the get-go
it's infinity stop is in the middle of the infinity symbol
15mm is wide enough for wide field astro
F2 is fast enough
1.1 pounds is not bad for a super wide
Easily takes filters

Negatives so far-
no EXIF reporting

You don't remember but I tried to order before our trip west. Alas they could not get me one before we left...I was going for the deal with the filters
included.

The other temptation WAS the Sigma 14/1.8 but
way heavy for me (for me maybe not you eh)
adapter required.

In the end I'll give Laowa the nod simply because they made it in e-mount.

Yes, but at least you know where it is.
I now kinda very close still experiment to find infinity with the B18. As Travis point it out, it is just before you see the infinity symbol appear
on the len's LCD screen.

Yep pushed back that purchase, besides I need to get 4 very serious tires for the campervan and develop a way to carry a second spare time. The better-half is still talking
about the trans Labrador highway :( 500 miles of gravel and the gov. loans you a satellite phone for help.

Tried to get close, no deal. They have a very effective warning system for intruders, thus the 2.0 teleconverter for 800mm.
We were in the Pierre National Grasslands for these guys and camped there one night.

Voice of reason here - you found the CV15 too wide for your use so if I was in your shoes I'd skip the laowa 15 for that reason

Thank you Eddie. That's what I need. :)

One reason why the laowa appeals to me is the F2, good for astro and dark interiors. the CV is 4.5, not too good in that department. also i returned my 16-35 and don't have a wide angle now.

Thank you! Sorry about that. I leaves the 1280px versions private and make the 2048px version public (haven't done that yet).
