Anyone willing to give up a good San Francisco cityscape location?

Looking at Google maps, I'm thinking Treasue Island, but I don't know how accessible it is during the evening. I'll only have 60ish minutes to shoot since I'll be there with family. I figure I can convince the wife to stop off for that amount of time during dusk/twilight, so I can get a cityscape.

I don't know where to shoot though. Anyone?

Treasure Island itself is generally not closed to the public. There will be sections (like the Coast Guard station on Yerba Buena) where there is not public access. Just drive to the more northern areas of TI, as if you were driving to where the flea market is located on weekends. I have no specific locations, as I have not gone with any intention of photography.

Thanks. I'll probably attempt from the exact location...

But I'd appreciate any other ideas too because we might be near the GG bridge during sunset time as well.

Twin Peaks is good spot. The photo below was taken there. If the weather is good you can also see the Golden Gate Bridge. When you park there is a little hike up a hill, but the view is great.

You might also check out Improve Photography's "rGPS" (Really Good Photo Spots) iPhone app. Just launched recently. No affiliation, but it came in handy for me on a trip last weekend to NYC.

Thanks. I just heard about that app a few days ago, and I was excited to use it for my Death Valley trip, but I use Android based phone. :-(

Maybe looking back at the city from Alcatraz, best thing to a cityscape I can think of? I’ve been to SF once a few years ago, so maybe some locals can chime in too.

This may be too late, but here's an idea. If you're going to the Golden Gate bridge, consider the Marin Headlands (external link). Weather permitting, this is a classic view of the bridge and the city. Look for the Vista Point just after you exit the north side of the bridge which isn't a bad view either. Then get back on the 101 freeway north and immediately and take the Alexander Avenue exit. Turn left at the stop, go under the freeway and then turn right onto Conzelman Road up the hill.
