NO. They are both in focus, as I used manual focus for both. There is also no movement as I used very stable tripod with tight all knobs. Even flash was used. These test pictures were to show differences between L1 nad L2 and it shown it very well. BTW if there was any movement to 35L it would be same to 35L II.

2 years later I still love this lens, and I use it more often than 85L II for portrait.

These are all shot wide open at f/1.4:

these are all fantastic

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Thanks :) This lens handles sun flare very well. (even have the B+W MRC UV filter on)

Here's a few more shots, the entire photo session was done at f/1.4:

Couple of images on this one. The 35L used to be my favorite, but now with the 50L in the line up, I'm not so sure anymore. Need more shots with this bad boy to see. I've only had this one for a week.

So, I’m thinking of picking one of these up, still wrestling between this & the 16-35 iii...decisions decisions...

All depends on how often you shoot in low-light, no-flash situations. If you rarely shoot in low-light, or you carry around a flash, then the 16-35 is a much more useful lens.
