super, All the good stuff happens is the crap light !!

That's why one day I hope to have the 5DMkIV + 400mm f4 DO MkII. I already have the 1.4 TC III to go with it. Add a 70-200mm F2.8 MkII and I can't imagine needing anything else.

Canon 7D Mk II, EF 100-400L MkII, EF 1.4X III, EF-S 18-135mm STM, 430 EX II flash, DCR-150, DCR-250, MANFROTTO 055XPROB w/ 322RC Grip

Well the move to the 5DIV from the II is the biggest advantage I think, Ive not used the 400 DO but I'm not a prime fan shooting in hills and bush like we have around here. I need to back out on big game a fair bit with the 100-400LII. Shooting at 100mm to 300mm is a real possibility on bigger game. MY ext 1.4III has stopped working, not sure why but on two cameras and 3 lenses its not good anymore. luckily my wife has one I can use lol. I have tried the 70-200 2.8 many times and didn't like just how thin it was and stopping down does help but defeats the purpose and 200mm with the extender is not exactly great either. I would way rather have the 70-300L its better in lower light and gives you f4 at 70mm, it will do landscape nicely when you need it.

I think you would be served way better with the 5DIV and the 100-400L II if you like to walk around, sneak up on game, it works well with the 1.4III but is still a love hate thing unless the sun is giving you great light. The biggest trick is making it all do what you want when it shouldn't. Thats what the great shooters do.. The rest of us are still working on it lol

No stalking required. This was taken at the Dunham Massey estate.

.

Just returned to civilization after spending the past few months working on wildfires, and when I went to the newsstand, I discovered that a couple of my deer stalking shots had some success!

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "peace of mind", NOT "piece of mind".

Good for you, Tom! They seem to have replaced the sky in the second cover?

Since you can work on wildfires, we need you down here. :-(

They only replaced 1/2 of the sky which is odd.

Congrats Tom, on 2 covers. Wicked sweet.

The first buck got a new left ear, proving that a cover-worthy shot doesn't require perfect luck with a pose. The left ear appears to be the right ear, cloned and flopped.
