I don't use Lightroom but feel for those of you that are disappointed in Adobe's decision to end the standalone version. The PS CC for photographers hasn't changed monthly fees since it began and it includes LR as well as PS.

Gene, do you own Photoshop outright or use the PS CC and Lightroom CC plan?

I think CC is subscription only.

I meant does Gene have the non-CC version of Photoshop?

I use the $9.99/mo. photographers subscription plan. It hasn't changed in price since they began going the subscription route. I've had the standalone version of LR and can download the subscription version but I just don't care for Lightroom to be honest.

No, I moved on to the subscription version when that first came out. $10.00 a month seems like a reasonable amount to me since I use the program so much.

Thanks Gene. Photoshop makes the monthly $10 worth it for me.

Owning software is over-rated. It has no value if isn't useful anymore. No value in an old windows 98 disc :-)

The exception is video games. I regret selling my old stuff when I was a kid because I had video game G.A.S

It's not the value of the software per se, it's the savings vs having to pay a monthly fee. Taken on it's own, $10 a month doesn't seem bad. But that's $120 a year. Every year. Add the $50 a year I pay for Backblaze. and we're at $170 a year just for photography related software. That's not any office/business related software, entertainment subscriptions, etc. The myriad subscription services add up quick to bleed you dry. Bearing in mind that there are lots of other things that have to be paid for, from professional license renewals each year, professional software subscriptions and organization memberships, and it starts to make a lot more sense to eliminate excess expenditures in all their forms. As a very wealthy friend used to say, if you mind your pennies your dollars will mind themselves.

Of course, there will soon come a time when moving to CC is unavoidable, but with the increasing number of competitors out there I may just switch over to something else. Who knows.

I had the 20L of the Peak Design in Ash and sold it, but this exclusive all black one looks really sweet. But the last thing I need is another bag, lol.

i didn't add front light as it gave me less contrast last night.

I will try other lens. This is the only macro I have. a SEL 30mm F3.5 that's why i used the A6000 to get a 24mp.

Thanks for your input and again for showing your setup to us.

Why not just get a small extension tube? It'll let you get the close focus with the 85 for a lot less than a macro lens.

yep, those sony extension tubes are really small compared to DSLR versions, not sure why. The one I typically carry with me is plastic and maybe 1cm? That thing weighs nothing and takes no space. I dont need full macro, close focusing on occasion is good enough. I have a full macro, an older sigma 50 f2.8 that I paid a whopping $60, autofocus, 1:1, heck of a bargain.

I'de love to have a 180mm macro, and if I can find one that has AF and aperture control for under 100, I'll probably jump on it.
