New firmware released today. Adds eye AF with adapted glass to the a9. I just tried this with the EF 24-70II and it works!

Awesome! Is that the only thing it adds? I don't have anything but Sony glass so I may not need it.

I will have to update when I get home. I still use the 50Art and 135L.

Some really obscure stuff about image quality improvements and bug fixes. Doesn't seem like anything major.

Let me know your thoughts with the 135L. I need a 135mm lens and this new update may have opened up a lot of options.

Will do, I am still on the road, will try to update it tomorrow night. The 135L worked great already on the a9. Then again, I have not had any issues with it on the A7r2 either!

I finally got hold of a metabones IV and have been playing with the 24-70II via the new firmware. Eye focus works well.

panning at 1/20 is so much easier with the a9...the AF is so fast and accurate...any misses are because of my technique...

Can you send me a full-res version of this? I'd love to make it my computer background!

I'd like to see lots of shots using Canon glass with adapter. I'm a Canon shooter and can't see selling off everything I own to convert to a system where the longest glass is 200mm. Also, are you guys seeing any difference between the regular RAW files and the compressed RAW files? (or any problems with the two different speeds for the card slots?) The AF system seems far and away anything I am used to with Canon.

My only Canon lens is the EF 24-70II. Mounted on the a9, it behaves like it's mounted on a native DSLR, and the latest firmware has added eye AF which is a big win. It worked well enough to track the motion of a wedding reception in low light.

There are a few native options longer than 200mm. 70-300, 100-400, and a 1.4x and 2x extender. Your Sigma 150-600 will behave like a native lens via the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

No noticeable difference between compressed and uncompressed raw...it isn't worth the space it takes up on the card so I shoot compressed.

AF system is certainly different from Canon, but easy to learn. For what I shoot, the accuracy of Sony's AF system is a big upside vs DSLR AF systems. Critical focus accuracy is spot on every time and there's never a need to MFA.

I've heard some people complain about the DR on the a9. I don't think it has any issues whatsoever. It won't match the a7RII, but blows my 5DIII out of the water.
