1080P frame crop at 200% from 80D with a bit of sharpening vs A6500, both from DPReview video sample scene.

wait is that a 1080p vs 1080p?

if so yeah .. a6500 1080 is just as mushy as 80d

for a bit , i thought you (or someone) were saying 1080 from 80d sharper than 4k from a6500

Oh, no, I definitely wouldn't say that; the A6500 4K is mind-blowingly sharp. Again, here's the 80D against the G85. Really the only camera that's substantially better at 1080P is the GH5 which is head and shoulders above the crowd at 1080P just like the A6500/A6300 is at 4K. You can add more sharpening to the G85 and the A6500 1080P but they both get really crunchy really fast unlike the 80D.

You've convinced me that shooting 1080 is a total waste of time on any camera :D

Outside of high frame rate 1080p, this is a very valid viewpoint. You'll almost always get better results shooting 4K and then downscaling to 1080P than actually shooting 1080P, except for maybe the GH5 which has ridiculously good 1080P.

I'd better prefer Panasonic GH5 or Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III

Peace! Check out my favorite 4K cameras (external link)
