This lens has been on my camera 90% of the time since I got it at the beginning of the year... Perfect for indoor sports, youth basketball and volleyball it is an amazing lens!!!

It also plays exceedingly well with the 2x converter!!!

Great for portraits as well the 135 f2 in my favorite lens!

I am surprised at Focussing being 7 and value for money being 7.5. The next step up costs > $4k (200mm f2 IS). Used 135L are $650 now a days which is dirt cheap IMHO.

Focus is fine but not as quick as more modern EF lenses...

As for value... its a 135mm lens... there are an amazing amount of excellent 135mm lenses and nearly all are far less expensive...

It is my favorite lens, sometimes I wish it focused faster...

Maybe I don't know about the cheaper 135mm f2 options. The ones I know are:

Zeiss 135mm f1.8 - $1800
Sigma 135mm f1.8 - $1400

the biggest bargain in the entire Canon lineup, IMO. Epic images on FF. Although I now prefer 85mm 1.2 due to better shutter speed and more flexible FL but it comes at a significant premium (definately not a bargain).

I've used my 135L for equestrian events, and ice hockey. My guess is that if your doesn't focus quickly, something is wrong with your lens, or your camera.

Care to name a few of those inexpensive 135mm f/2 alternatives?

I'm surprised about your comments on focus speed and value. My copy really is very fast focusing. It's possible that the very latest lenses are even faster but I doubt they are faster to a degree that would actually be noticeable. As to the many similarly excellent lenses available at far lower prices, I'd love to have that list!

Comment and (constructive) criticism always welcome.

IME, 135L is one of the faster focusing lenses in Canon lineup, especially when AF limit switch is engaged.
