I figure if I expand on Fuji in the future, the 10-24 would be a natural replacement to my 17-40 which I use a ton. I was close to adding a 14~15mm lens to my FF setup. But, I may wait and see how things go for a while. Was just wondering if there were non-fisheye 8mm lenses for APS-C yet. Everything seems to be fisheye. Don't need F2.8 or anything, this would live at F5.6~F16 probably a lot for its purposes.

An 8~16 would be great, but don't need F2.8, so would hope for a F4~F5.6 or something version (for cost & weight/size). May not see that though.

Very best,

The 10-24 kills!

Anyone know how long the current rebates are good for ?
Wasnt planning to buy now but with the instant rebates i just might take advantage

In Europe they are due to end 15 Jan 2018. Thinking of adding the 23/1.4 now, then, either the 14/2.8 or the 8-16 when it lands.

The 23/56 combo should see me good for all family outings, then, I'm hoping the XT-3 will have something for me to pounce on when it lands.

Can anyone give me some user-end-experience of the EVF of newer model bodies, like the XPRO1 & XPRO2, XT10 & XT20, X-E2S compared to what I'm experiencing in the X100S?

Martin,
Are you running on the latest firmware, I have no experience of the X100 series but I know it had updates to improve its shortcomings ( as Fuji do with all bodies ). Maybe that will help. As for Silky, I never bothered with it, people are raving about On1 for processing Fuji files, sorry, again I have no experience of it but maybe something to look into.

One thing I'm tiring of is the large bulky heavy cameras & glass that I use. And I mostly prefer wider angles. So it just seems like they have the system & glass that I'm interested in (Fuji that is), without the silly costs of Sony right now. But, I think my main concern is with the EVF's quality and latency. If and when I add a 2nd Fuji to my kit, that is full time EVF, it basically has to be as lag free as possible. I don't mind a little lag when swinging the camera massive angles, as it will never be used for that, but mostly just a decently fluid experience for still photography with minor movement (nothing faster than general walking; normal activity, etc). My X100S is so laggy when I use the EVF that it makes me feel like I'm looking at some tech that is not from 2013 or later. I knew that would be the case, but it just makes me really concerned for my next body in the future should I continue this pathway. For very shallow depth of field and portrait stuff in general, I will be much more concerned with EVF and latency.

Overall, if things go this way, I'm considering a body of some kind with really good EVF performance, and then considering trading out my 17-40L, 135L and 35F2IS with a Fuji equivalent of 10-24, 56 F1.2 and leave it at that, but maybe a 23 F1.4 (maybe). I don't really care for much else at this time. So full depth of field with the 10-24, and really shallow at F1.2. So I will want an EVF that can actually perform well without seeming like a latency mess, especially on a subject that is even slightly moving.

Very best,

every now and then I think I want a 5d4.. well I do want one .. remembering the images I got with 5d3 and 24-70 2.8 mkii ..
but then I also remember how I rarely bought the camera out because of its size and weight ..

Sony's A7r 3 has me very impressed , so much so that I've actually preordered the a7r3... although i'm not actually sure i'm going through with it... they actually fixed most of the reasons I left (usability ) , added joystick , dual card slots , Improved AF etc.. I wont lie , I do miss the DR of the sony sensor ..
but , when I start doing the math .. body $3200 , 16-35 f4 $1200 , 55 f1.8 $900 , 90mm f2.8 $1100.. (that's the kit I had before except with a sony a7sii not 7r3 of course and its what i'd want again. (more or less)
Yeah , sony isn't cheap .. and the lenses I listed aren't even their "G master" top tier glass .. that being said they haven't made a dud lately ,, but still yeah pretty pricey

I'm still new to Fuji as well.. but
.
So far I've been pretty impressed with Fuji Glass .. seems fairly priced and Good quality ..

who knows I may go through with the a7r3.. but i'm going to try to work some magic (over time at work  ) to keep the Fuji..
it took me a bit to adjust to it , the Raf files .. and just the camera .. but now , I occassianally pick up one of my canons and they feel incomplete... I love my dials !!
at the begingig I didn't use them , or I tried to setup my camera to feel like what I had before..but little by little I woke up and realized how much easier it is to use the dials

if anything is being sold off it will be the rest of my canon gear (80d / t4i and ef 50 and some lower end efs glass )as its basically collecting dust. it does come out about twice a month for some video but ..

Its become all about the EVF for me ...the WYSIWYG experience !
histograms, peaking etc... at this point I don't think I want to go back to traditional OVF's

Good till Jan 6th as far as I remember in the USA - who get the best deals most of the time.

The XF 8-16 is due in 2018 and it's good to have a rectilinear lens that wide, Im just hoping Fuji can get it as corrected as they say they want to. Time will tell. 8-16 will fit in nicely with the other red badged 2.8 lenses so expecting the quality to be there with that one. I only bought the 10-24 as I have some architecture shoots next month and I need a better lens than the samy 12mm, that thing has a severe case of the wobbles at times & a pain to fix in post. The 10-24 will go once I can get the 8-16.

As for size...

I think one thing that Fuji needs to improve for some one like me (who is no good in MF) is their face/eye detect. Sony is way ahead in that. I care less for FF vs crop. I did pick up GFx just to see what it is. Here is a quick one using AD200 in a medium SB.

8-16 size looks very similar to the 16-55 size to me. I got adjusted the size of the 16-55 but then again I wouldn't walk around with 8-16 everyday, it would be a specific lens for me.

Finally got around to making the lock feature a shortcut so my aperture ring doesn't change accidentely during a shoot. Happy camper now lol

Wow. Mine is complete opposite position. I need to play a bit more with this.

Well I don't need to use the diopter so all I know is it is fuzzy on both the EVF and OVF when it's moved either way from the middle. Not the best to say if it is backwards or not.

The 8-16 is a very specific lens for me too so whatever the weight it's not so much of an issue as I'd be shooting on a tripod with it, probably.

Is the 8-16 already out? I wish there was some T/S lens available just to try that kind of stuff.

No, the 8-16 is not available yet. I'm curious about the tilt shift adapters. I don't know anyone who's used one.

I asked Fuji over the summer about TSE lenses, was told no plans to date -?

The problem I see with adaptors is getting a full frame lens wide enough but would love to hear of any experience with an adaptor too.

I saw one for GFX, seems they make for other cameras also. Expensive. I think there would be adapters for using Canon T/S on Fuji XF series as Canon even covers GFX sensor.

Cambo Actus is a nice idea, killer price though once you put the needful together. Thought about the samyang TSE with a adaptor and the kipon t/s but it's hard to know if they would work out.

Borrowed a friends xplor 600 for a family shoot and now I’m anxious to purchase my own. Perfect timing I guess as Black Friday is around the corner.
