From what I've seen in Roger Cicala's review comments, the GM is excellent in the 16-24mm range.

A nice advantage of the zoom is being able to shoot the entire job with one lens. It removes one headache from the project.

The GM has a lot of aperture blades, so the sunstars are messier - the FE 16-35mm has better looking sunstars. Also the F4 model is a lot more affordable. Still, I'd want to give the GM a solid try because it could possibly replace your Batis for astro.

Sell the Batis, but the Loxia 21mm is too good to ever sell imo. :)

My attitude is buy with a sincere expectation of keeping it, but returning the item if it doesn't measure up to your realistic expectations.

In case you didn't see this FM thread on the GM: http://www.fredmiranda.com .../0?keyword=16-35#14214712 (external link)

Really appreciate your inputs David!

you nostalgia, you lose.

I re-acquired one of my first, if not my first lens in photography, got it for real cheap to hold me over for the eventual GM..... with some shooting, I'm pretty happy with how this performs, AF isnt an issue, metabones proving its worth once again, tried my viltrox, no go, so the viltrox stays with the 135A.

Some picks from my vacation in the Outer Banks this past summer. Need to put them in two different submissions. Here's the 1st. I tried using the SR app on the pier shot. Made the spraying water look a bit grainy and the sky wasn't great for it, but it was fun to do. These were all shot with my A6000. I have the a7RII that I normally shoot with but when I go down to the Outer Banks I only take my A6000 due to all the wind and dirt i end up getting on the camera. I'm a bit more carefree with the a6000.

Things will be really busy the next couple of weeks so we put our Christmas tree up early. As such, we have an overlap between Halloween and Christmas this year

Me too.
I'm strongly looking at the 16-35GM.
Is that a lens Lensrental will rent in the future?
I'd certainly like to rent one next April and see how it does for
Milky Way.
There is one more thing that would hold me back and that's Colby Brown's review
of the 12-24 which I already have. It is already shown to have little coma or astigmatism;
and wider is almost always better for the night sky.

I keep thinking about the 24-105mm and wondering if it will be any good. I’ve had the FE 24-70mm f4 and really liked it...it’s fun to have a versatile walk-around. Hopefully the 24-105mm will be even better and the 71-105mm is a nice bonus.

I’ve never owned a 24-105mm in any form, but it’s been a hugely popular lens for Canon.

I'm definitely interested in the 24-105. Meanwhile, the 100-400 should be arriving tomorrow.

Sony A7RII and a bunch of lenses.

I don't know where my pre-order fell with B/H, my order was Oct. 27.
Seems to be a popular lens, Brian Smith said it was the most requested lens for FE mount.
I won't get it if they ship when they are supposed to. I've got 12 days off and will be traveling during
that time period. I'll park it at the local UPS depot. They know me by name so that will be fine.
Kai didn't seem to think 24mm was fantastic and some other reviewer (there are so many) wasn't wowed.

Sometimes I wonder why I do what I do in decision making. Walk-a-round? Well I won't be walking around with
the Rii or the a9, more likely the 10iv or the M1ii + 14-150ii. We'll see, but I want it in the Everyday to have
a complete solution.

Forgot to mention the 24-105 doesn't have to be great. It's not a GM. But I'd like to see it beat the
EOS 24-105ii.

Wow, just awesome captures. The sunset blew me away!

Thanks. That sunset was absolutely bonkers. I actually have another from the set a little bit later where the entire cloud cover is lit up. I'll post it at the bottom.

Thanks, I feel like I always capture some of the best moments when we go down to the Outer Banks every year. Love that place.

Here's the other sunset pick. I made me think of a sunset I imagine I would see in Africa. Must be watching too much Lion King with the kids...lol

Halloween snapshots, cv 35, love the lens despite a few flaws, ECFS left on, however I dont see bokeh hit as bad.

^^No kidding! Great makeup!

Hey flash users.....How big of an octabox do you think I could get away with using with a Godox V860II? 30ish? I want to go a bit bigger than my square lastolite 24" box.
Thanks
