(c) Blue & Yellow Macaw from yesterday.

He let me get real close. at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. My Canon EF 500 mm lens has a MFD of 16-18'. The RX10 IV can focus to 2.4. This is huge advantage.

Just for kicks, and because I thought your image was so good, I dug up a pic of the same type of bird to compare with my a99ii/Minolta 200/2xTC combo.

IMO, your RX10iv image holds up very well. Incredible performance from that 1" sensor!

Love your work with the a99ii. I do agree the Sony RX10 IV has a great lens/sensor combo. Have no idea how Sony did it.

Take care,

P.S. Thanks for sharing your wonderful image.

Can someone tell me what the length of the lens is fully extended from the front of the body on. Looking to see if it meets the 6" length rule for NFL games.

Thanks,

Theron

Does it have to be on and extended fully for the entry inspection?
6.25 and two hairs inches from the body proper.
How would they know it zooms out?

Thank you! It really depends on the person standing there. I've been to college games that said no to my 70-200 and I just walked to the next gate and they never say a word. NFL might be a little harder.

Isn't it crazy how the "rules" seem to vary not only from venue-to-venue, but also from security guard to security guard?

I usually get measured, which is why I have opted for a 200 2.8 prime in my kit ever since my Canon days. I carry my 2x TC separate, as the guards just think it is another lens (well, it techinically is--right? :).

I got into the FSU Football spring game with my a77ii/200 2.8 but they gave me a decent hassle. The guard claimed that they usually only let lenses as long as a drivers license in, which goes against what I had read but whatever.

I've had zero problem getting into the Outback Bowl, Citrus Bowl and Orange Bowl for CFB, and zero problems with spring training--although usually measured each place.

The security guard at Amway Arena barely blinked when I brought in my 6D/200 2.8 rig years back, and that kinda shocked me.

Nice shots everyone! I have this camera in my sights. I plan on ordering one on black friday. I know the camera shops are going to sell out their inventory on these.

Thought I'd gotten this one posted. BIF machine and really not shabby for a 1 inch sensor.

All I can say is that if I lived in Florida with all that amazing light this might be the only camera I'd need!

By the time I got the camera on this guy he was a bit far off, but I still got a few keepers. I was actually shooting his sibling perched in a tree when this one burst out of the branches and flew off. Prior to that I didn't even see him.

I am really looking forward to getting this camera. It just shipped today....Its amazing what 1 inch sensor cameras can do today. I was browsing through a camera store site and I cannot believe how many cameras and pro camcorders are using the 1" sensor!
