On the Flashpoint Zoom R2 Manual Flash unit (and I assume also on the Godox unit) when I have the flash in wireless slave mode, a small light located at the bottom of the flash assist light flashes on and off. I cannot find any reference to this in the Flashpoint Instruction Manual or on any YouTube videos about this flash.

It continues to flash as long as I have the flash unit in wireless slave mode.

Is this normal behavior? I noticed the light flashing on a YouTube video but, no reference to the flashing was made...

If this is normal, it is annoying.

Yes it is normal and that is the way the optical communication works.

The Godox X system shoe flashes (and variants) have two small lights on each side of the focus assist beam emitter in the lower part of the red filter window on the front of the flash. These lights flash when ever the shoe flash is in either the Optical or Radio Slave configurations. This is normal behavior.

These lights have nothing to do with the way the optical communication works when in the Optical Wireless configuration. The Optical sensor, which is how the Slave flash receives optical signals from the Master flash, when in Optical Wireless configuration, is in the upper right corner of the red filter window. The Master flash sends optical communication via the Xenon flash tube.
