There are about 50 within the city limits of Ottumwa. Wonder why the numbers are so low at 14.

Sometime you would only see two or three of them in trees and other time there were several in trees and flying around. The first shot shows four eagles in a tree behind the parking lot. I saw several in the two trees also. Sometimes it was hard to decide which eagle to focus on because several would come out of the trees at a time. There was not anyone throwing fish but they were catching some fish. Over to the right there were several flying around but I didn't try to shoot them because they would be back-lit.

Buddy, cool on all that description, I'll take that count this weekend if I'm lucky, and its always thrilling there having choices to lock focus on huh. Eagle On!

Went out yesterday and got skunked. Didn't stay for a long time but the eagles that were there were just sitting. Only the seagulls were fishing. I was surprised at how few people were there for a day with some sun in the afternoon.

Does anyone know what the conditions are at lock 19 at Keokuk? I saw the corp report a bunch of eagles a week ago, just wondering if the ice has held. Thanks for your help

Went back out again on Friday. Saw as many as 13 sitting on the trees on the peninsula. One of the most active days I've experienced since I started going in 2009. Too bad they will be leaving soon.

Hey Alls did everyone see that they built artifical perches for the Eagles at the park since the 2 launching tree's were torn down after a storm?
here's the video from the local news station
http://wqad.com ...m-14-attract-more-eagles/ (external link)

Anyone reading this been to the park to see if there were eagles on the perches? I know its super super early in the Eagle season for the Dam, just curious if anyone has seen the perch's used yet. If soo post up the pics please. I'm looking forward to my anual trip to the dam in January!

Hopefully the perches will induce more takeoffs and fights for the fish, since they will be sitting close together. we shall see.

Cheers Steve, just realized I hated posted any pics from my last post in this thread where I said I was going, these are from jan 2017, a Tribute to the tree's from that trip, RIP awesome launching tree's!
