Does anyone have a NAS that isn't ridiculously slow when trying to access something like a huge dump of RAW files?

I've reconfigured my network at home and now have a double redundancy of everything and a double redundancy of this 1TB SSD that I'm using as my "current" drive. The problem is that the NAS drives are really slow...and I'm on a wired connection. My house is cat5e wired.

That is why I gave up on NAS, too slow.

Did you have to do anything to the yellow and green channel Vinz? Asking because in photoshop, the green and yellow channels go nuts in that type of lighting and I have to fix it in HSL

yes I did using the advance color editor.

Yeah I've had a NAS for a while but have no t been as good about backing up as I should since it's so slow. Then my hard drive crashed and I learned my lesson. I'd like to be more on top of things going forward but would like a faster solution since when backing up a wedding, I'm working with over 200gb of files between me and my second shooter. (128gb of that is the a7rii lol)

That’s me pledged for the capture v3. I vowed never to use Kickstarter again but trust PD so made the exception

What exactly is "Kickstarter"?

I believe basically..

its a product that isn't finished ,, but its the idea of it..

and by pre-ordering .. you help fund the completion of the item

doesn't always work out but often you get it at a better price than once its tried and tested

Yup. The caveat is that if the project isn't fully funded and never gets off the ground, you aren't entitled to a refund.

Google crowd funding to get an idea behind Kickstarter's base.

When I said the FE 100-400 is sharp, I really meant it.

Handheld, in my backyard, from about 6 feet away. Cropped to about 1:1.

Hey Nadim, I have something for you to shoot with the 100-400. Been noticing the moon has been moving so much north that it's lined up so well for a plane flying through it! I can see it way where I live, and inland where you live should have a much better view. Possibly Gene too, but not sure. I'm trying for it tomorrow and Wednesday before the moon loses too much volume.

My synology nas is wireless but if I want to access files quickly I connect by wire using Ethernet and it’s really quick (as if it’s just an internal drive). I was about to suggest that to you but realised you were already hard wired so I’m out of ideas. My cable is directly into my wireless router

Edit - if you mean the initial backup TO the nas this Is the beauty of apples timemachine. Whenever I connect my MacBook to the mains power (like at night when I’m not using it) it backs up the entire computer (drives/settings/installed programs etc) automatically wirelessly at regular intervals so i am never aware of the initial backup happening or how long it takes as by morning there are multiple versions of it. If I wasn’t using Mac I would definitely do the initial backup wired
