Is there anything that will do a pretty good job of removing acne on a person's face, without also generally softening the skin?

This isn't working for me. What am I doing wrong?

Example 2 - if I set the master slider to 95, I finally get rid of the acne. However, then her whole face looks extremely smoothed - and I hate it.

You have to play around with more than just the master slider. There are numerous sliders under numerous categories. You won't find software anymore automated than Portrait Pro. It's very easy to use once you get a flow going.

I get the best results doing it manually in PS with frequency separation.

If you're not familiar it's sure worth learning.
