Hopefully those rumors come to fruition, mainly because the newer DO's will cause the current prices to drop :-) It'd be a tough decision to leave the 500 II for the 600 II, as I feel that I'm already at the limit of weight manageability. I like taking the 500 out hand held, but the 600 is a bridge too far. 600 DO will be insanely expensive and out of my price range, as is the current 600.

I hope I'm lucky enough to own either!

If you want it enough, you'll find a way to make it happen :-) Time, focus and belief.

I'll be down for a 600 DO if it is the same weight as the 500 II. I can carry it and handhold it with no problems.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Thank you MatthewK, it was a shaft of light coming through the trees, almost like a spot light. Nice shot of the great blue.

So I joined the club this week and was also fortunate to pick up a 1DX2 as well.

Here are a few of one of my resident Little Wattlebirds as I was MFA'ing my new toys today...suffice to say I think they work as advertised - and a very noticeable upgrade from the 7D2/300 f2.8 combination I recently sold to part fund these.

Nice bird to MFA on! Congrats on the acquisitions! Being that you live in Australia, you have no shortage of awesome subjects to capture with the new gear :-)

Nothing more exotic than a Spotted Dove, but the afternoon light makes up for it.

Practising hand holding with the 2x too.

Some Fall captures. These are cropped, though not too seriously. I briefly pondered the idea of the 600 f/4 II for more reach (naturally), but I absolutely love the ability to go hand held with this 500, so that idea hasn't gained much traction. Anyone ever use these fine lenses back-to-back, hand held?
