Eriet well thought out. But for some of us a year and a half and well we just might not be here.
That said I'm still not salivating and this past weekend again enjoyed Smooth Reflections.

How about the "Light Trails" app that was basically the Oly composite app...... I would kill for that app and almost have bought Oly cameras just for it!!!!

IDK where sony is going....... I am thinking medium format if I do every replace the 7r2..... Just one wide lens and a bazillion pixels then have the A9 funness for the rest of my shooting.

Just noticed that while the a7rIII doesn't have the zero blackout that the a9 has, it does have the continuous live view EVF of the a6500. This should improve AF tracking while bursting considerably. This is an area where the a7rII really lacks....it tracks well in single shot mode, but its not very reliable once you start burst firing because the image in the evf starts to lag behind.

my Smasung Battery pack will charge the the a9, but the a7r2 doesn't even recognize it...does the 7r2 charge through the multiport?

Everyone: Shut up and order that a7R III already!

Seriously, I think most here would really benefit - it's a really great upgrade and will be Sony's best camera yet imo (a9 remains as the ultra-action king).

My bank account has told me a definitive "NO!!!"

But, as really nice conciliation, I think I will be ordering a FE 35mm 1.4 ZA soon. And I may also pick up the FE 85mm 1.8.

so many options...and so many of them are so appealing...

No doubt Jarvis. But I was on fire to add the a9, after I had the a9 three weeks on fire to rid of the entire Canon lot.
Had fire for the a99ii and still to this day say the a99ii is the best overall camera made to this date. Even the spec list
of the A7Riii comes up short of the a99ii.

You remember the mental debates, the lingering sorrow over the decision to go full on e-mount but solace in that at least
weekly I see/hold and process a99ii files with my doctor buddy who bought it from me and learns processing from me of all
people!

Poof and I have already discussed the Riii and her inheritance of the Rii when that time comes. in the meantime I'm lens'ing it
up with the 85/1.8 arriving Wednesday and two weeks away from the 24-105G. From now until April time to make a decision
on the wide-field astro. In too many ways the B18 is lacking--especially since I did ok shooting the Milky Way with the 12-24G; that
at least saved me from the 16-35GM. The most likely candidate at this point in time is the Laowa 15/2.

Eriet thank you! You just reminded me to again look for an a5100. Surely I'll find one someday good quality/low miles. It and the A7S were the only two originals that could do live composite light trails in the Sony world. You'd buy a camera just for that wouldn't you!

Might be time to bring up the discussion on Arsenal again; I was traveling when it was mulled about, me getting only pieces and bits here and there. Just seems like a fun piece of kit to me, negative being its another piece of kit to forget or forget to charge.

Speaking of charging, and I hope Travis reads this.
I want some company to make a bottom plate that isn't a plate, but a 1/2 inch thick extension of the body of the a7rii or riii that is in reality a charging brick! Heck
they could even have an arca-swiss compatible area on it. I could leave it on the camera and just have to remember a cable.

David, I really think that your landscapes and architecture shots could really benefit from pixel shift too. It's basically a win for everyone (DO IT!)

Man feels just like yesterday we were going nuts over the a7rII....

that's awesome to know.

also, being able to play with the menu while the camera is clearing the buffer or writing is also awesome.

when the Rii came out, many of us said we're not upgrading. what happened next? everybody has Rii. lol

OK Travis.
I just plugged into my a7Rii (no battery grip, mine is a Meike and won't work, however on the a9 I have OEM Sony and it will) the OEM A7Rii cable and then plugged into
the Patriot Fuel+ 7800 mAH's 2.5 amp port. I push menu on the a7Rii then half-way depress the shutter. In the upper right side of the LCD screen I see the battery charge
indicator and the 'plug-in' indicator beside it which if I remember correct denotes charging and/or external power source.

USB power is 'on' in the menu selection. OEM cable might be important since it has the extra charging pin.

I just put an almost dead battery into the A7Rii, same setup. Push menu (doesn't matter what menu area you are in), momentarily depress the shutter button and see the battery
icon, in this case battery icon has at most 1 bar but the charging 'plug-in' symbol is beside it.

Do note this. It is an and/or thing concerning the little yellow light right beside the external multipin connector.
When I turn off the camera and the A7Rii via OEM cable into the 2.5a port of the Patriot+ Fuel, now I'm seeing the little yellow light on showing me the camera is now charging the
OEM Sony battery.

Haha! It's killing you I know! You are the GAS MASTER. Can you admit you've had your finger hovering over the buy now button???

I'm still a third dollars away. We bought 2 EOS M-5s, Poof uses one at work, it's staying. The other just sits. If/when it sells at FM then I'll be poised. But even having the money
then and I'm still not hungering for this one. I never did anything fast, well I did BIF with the Rii just to prove it could be done, and maybe I'm the only one but I really like the colors
out of the a9. I've gone back and looked at that last Cardinal and said out loud to Poof that there is something special there that even I can see.

Now about those apps and that loss, that is always in the forefront of my mind for this type of camera.
