She did have a calf in tow. They were very much aware that I was there but became tolerant of my movements. I sat in the snow for a bit to calm them (froze my ass) and it seemed to work. Worked in slowly to about 30-35 feet and then didn't dare any closer because Mom can be extremely protective if needed.
