I received an early Black Friday gift to myself, a Samyang 12mm F2 lens (about 40 percent off!) So, today I took a few IR photos from around town as a storm was blowing in to test it out.

I'm partial to B&W photography since that is what I mostly shoot with my large format camera. Shooting in IR make B&W that much more dramatic.

These were all shot using my Fugi XT-1 and a 720 nm IR filter.

I think I'm going to like this lens!

No, the XT-1, along with the X100s have very weak hot mirrors (IR filter over the sensor). So, it is possible to shoot IR with the cameras in stock condition. A tripod is needed though since exposures at base ISO are very long, over a second at f4.

Interesting I didn't know that. Does the same hold true for the xt2? I believe it to be the same sensor. I just picked one up this could be interesting. Great looking shots.

I'm not sure about the XT-2, I think that has a difference sensor. Just do a search on google of 'xt2 IR' and see what others are saying.

Shooting IR is A LOT of fun. You can get photos that just aren't possible any other way. Even false color IR is fun to play with.

Here's a shot i took with my X100S this summer. Notice how the green trees and grass are white.

These look pretty much like your basic black and white.

Nice pictures but they don't look like IR.
