Pekka, with Adobe going into the direction they're going, more and more people are looking for alternatives for both Lightroom and Photoshop. I see people trying out different applications, asking questions, etc. I myself have been playing with Capture One and would like to say a few things about it. I could simply open a thread on the board of course but it occurred to me how handy it would be if we could do a Software review in the regular Review section where reviews are easy to find. Would you consider adding Software to the Review section?

hi Levina :)

Hi Baan!

Adobe is going subscription with Lightroom too. They still offer it as a stand-alone version for now but the question is for how long. And as a lot of people reject the subscription based format, they are looking for alternatives. Apps like Capture One, DxO, Photo Lab and others are being tried out now. I just thought it would be a good idea to have people report back their findings to an easy to find central place, like Reviews, where people could also ask questions, etc. Maybe it was a bad idea. Pekka has not replied.

I see.... thanks for that information. I thought adobe switched everything to subscription all together. I ended up having to subscribe because I couldnt upgrade to the new camera raw with the old ps version and I needed to for the sohney camera. :)

Agree.

It seems that people are generally unaware of options and even if they are aware, often are too uncomfortable with the unknown to try something new. It could be a real benefit for the timid, and nice resource for all.
