I went for the 7D mkII, picking up a nice low-milage one at a price I could afford.

It's taking a little getting used to but I'm largely happy with my choice. I'd shot with the 1D mkIII for ~6 years so there's some re-training of muscle memory to be done before it'll feel as second nature as using that came to be but I'm getting there.

The move from 1.3 to 1.6 crop lead to a few 'whoa I'm too close' moments during my first assignment with it, but fitting something wider and/or taking a few steps back and I can learn to live with that. I also need to remember to carry extra batteries and memory cards as shooting time is shorter and file size larger. I'll probably get a grip at some point, but it's actually kinda nice having something more portable too.

Good luck with your 7D2... I absolutely LOVE mine. I especially like the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens on the 7D2. However, for a wider view, the 12-24mm f/4 Tokina ATX is a great lens. I work with the Mark-1 version and have not had any problems with flare.
