Thanks very much Bianchi - I will have a look through my unedited files and get them up today!

Thank you Gene for the win, lots of other great edits. The unfortunate thing is I have a couple of my editing computers in the shop for service, thus no files available to put up at this time..
,
So skinandbones it's your win. Congrats and welcome to POTN !!

Thanks to Navydoc for choosing me as an edit you liked and thanks Bianchi for passing your winning spot to me for this entry.

Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge
...now compiled into a single, easy to locate thread, that can be added to your subscribe/follow list!

Rules are simple:

Download the image file from the current week
Contestants will have 7 days to edit the image and post their edited version to the thread (As many entries as you like)
The owner of the original image will choose a winner and runner-up
The winner will copy & paste this post and include a new downloadable image link

The new image must be unedited / SOOC (straight our of camera), full-resolution, and in a RAW format, ie. CR2, DNG, TIF, etc (Dropbox works well for uploading and linking these large files) The purpose of this game is to be creative and learn new editing techniques. You must give some insight into exactly how you went about editing the image. For example, increased shadows sliders, reduced highlights, local sharpening, white balance adjustment, specific filters used, tone curve adjustments, etc.

Here's this week's challenge. Here is an abandoned farmhouse in the interior of British Columbia. I recently went and re-edited this to something I am happy with - now I would like to see your take on it. Have fun and remember to explain how you did your edit so we can all learn from your expertise.

Dropbox folder with RAW file, 7zip file and Zip file.

I will edit this post once the 7 days are up to include my edit.

Just having fun with this edit.

Instead of using the lens profile to correct distortion, I opened the file in PS and used the "Adaptive wide angle" filter and tweaked to my liking. Then in PS, I cropped, straightened and filled where necessary using content aware fill. Reopen the adjusted image using the ACR filter to adjust black/white points, color balance, and exposure. Used gradient filter in the upper left corner set to 'dehaze' then back to PS. Select building on the left and duplicate then using the free transform tool, rotate to make level, create a layer mask and blended with rest of the image. Use ColorEfex 4 Pro to enhance contrast then Topaz Simplify to boost colors and reduce specular highlights. Used Alienskin's Exposure X2 to give it a vintage look. Added a drop shadow to the film negative. Resize to 1280 on the long side and save. Oh, removed the green sign at the last minute too.

Because of a busy schedule this week, please don't consider my edit. I just posted for the fun of it.

Brought into PSCC, adjusted highlights and shadows and added a touch of clarity. Brought in a few friends(you'll have to look for 'em) and one special guest. I left the distortion as it fits in with what I wanted to do.

Wow, quite a challenge distortion-wise, beautiful photo though. DXO 8.8 for distortion and keystoning correction, adjusted black and white points, contrast, highlights and shadows, bumped vibrancy, upped saturation just a touch. Affinity Photo to remove the sign and a few local adjustments to taste.

I hope no one minds but here's one more edit I did in black and white, only this time with no frame around it to show more of the buildings and rock wall.

Big surprise!!!!!! No dark and gloomy...........Brought into LR to correct exposure, level it, adjust the W&B points, brought down the highlights, brought up the shadows, tried to get rid of the chromatic aberrations then off to PSCC. Worked on the CA's again. Used NIK's Define to reduce the noise. The sky looked lonely, so I added a few friends.
