Having recently commenced studio photography I am growing to immensely dislike my faithful old Velbon tripod; the leg supports have worn loose over many years and the head either sticks and resists fine control - or flops to maximum deflection with a DSLR and heavy optics on it. One day soon something very expensive is going to happen!
I love well made wooden objects so for the tripod, Father Christmas is going to bring me a Berlebach Report 332 - but I don't know which head to ask him to bring?
Brand names don't matter to me; I just need something durable and well made, with low stiction and smooth damping for fine adjustability, and which permits portrait and landscape usage.
Advice from hands-on experience gratefully received, please.
