I live the sky looks awesome but the foreground being so dark seems like too much dead space with the current crop... maybe cropping a good chunk of the bottom would help this... 6/10

Recent shot of a sema truck put together by a local dealership

Cool shot, I like the white light underneath the truck, 7/10.

A nice landscape scene scene and view, well seen a d good photographed. This road nice leading eyes forward. Sun is situated in a good place in frame and it helps for a good composition. Slightly cropp keft side of photo due to the fact that some of these branches are cutted in left up corner, I think that it is a matter of taste.

A good photo of this horse. I agree with previous comment about horse's eye. I also would like to slightly cropp up part of photo, because in my opinion a part of this cutted lamp in up part of photo is not so necessary to put it here into this frame.

Fine details here on this guitar. Besides position of this guitar in diagonal helps for a good composition. B&W works well for me here. Value of f-stop is well set here and well used here, I like this shallow DoF. For me this photo works as it is. I guess that this grey area out of the focus which is situated near the right down corner it is a part of this guitar.

Hey Mkl ... if you put up a critique, you have to post a picture. That's the name of this game. And it's just that very last photograph you are permitted to critique. Oh ... and you are supposed to hand out a score ... ?/10.

Rules, rules, rules! Games have rules. ;-)a

EDIT: good critique btw ... now, where is your photograph?

Thank you for your input. Beginns are almost always hard. I'm trying to understand how this site works. Hand out a score ?/10, a little strange rating for me. Any guidelines for these rules here on this site? Thanks.

No guidance on how you figure out consistent scoring available anywhere, I am afraid. It is probably a little erratic as a result.

Long ago, when I taught at University, I always used to mark on a scale of 1 to 10 ... but with an actual maximum of 9. My argument was that it would be unbelievably arrogant of me to grant a 10 when there was such a lot I didn't understand myself. So '9' is what I'd give if I couldn't think of any significant way of improving a submission. My students didn't like me much for this ... despite my evident humility.

Anyway, it's great that you're here. And do post a photograph if you can. Somebody will give it a probably mild critique and post their own. Any pain will be very short lived.

Don't overthink it, it's your opinion, may be a terrible picture, but if it does it for you, rate it as such.

I think musical instruments make great photographic subjects and I'm a sucker for guitars. This is a nice composition. The shallow depth of field and monochrome treatment together with the strong leading lines give it a nice moody feel and I like the simple use of window lighting. I think the background is a little distracting. I'll give it 8/10.

This is a tough one. I like the contrast, and the black and white treatment, but I dont like the pose. For some reason I get the impression we are looking down on the person. Something just feels wrong 7/10

I like the way they are laid out, not too symmetrical, but not just thrown together. Good contrast, not too much, but just enough 8/10.

To me this image is more of a snapshot.. crop is a bit to close to his head... and a bit underexposed.. maybe a more aggressive black and white edit could bring some drama into the images 5/10

This image was a local dance company.. the performance is inspired by MC Esher.. so tried something that hopefully gives a bit of that feel

I am a sucker for this type of image. It greatly appeals to me. Add to that that I would never think of doing this sort of image myself makes me appreciate the image even more. Love it. 10/10 cant find anything wrong with this, and if the dance company does not use this image in their brochures, they are crazy.

My image is from an outing at a local park. The topic was a sort of wonder woman/xena princess warrior. Photographically, I was looking at supplemental lighting, although none is used in this image.
