So i'm heading to Europe next week, going to Galway/Shannon, Ireland; Paris, France (for NYE), and Rome, Italy (with a day trip to Florence).
I'm packing my GoPro Hero 5 and my 80D.
I'm stuck on lenses. Want to bring two, to keep the weight on my back down (also the fear of losing them to thieves). Deciding between the following:
- 70-200 f/4 non-IS
- Sigma 30 f/1.4
- 24-70 f/2.8
- 10-22 f/3.5-5
- 85 f/1.8
What would you take if it were you?
10-22 for sure. This will cover 98% of everything you will be presented.
For the 2nd lens, well, it's a toss up. Everyone always suggests taking a fast prime for low light, but I've yet to ever need a fast prime in low light on vacation other than a portrait, but even then, I'd rather have an ultrawide portrait shot showing where we were, rather than just some shallow depth of field shot in lower light. Just my experience with it.
So for the 2nd lens, I'd lean on the 70-200 so that you have far vistas that you may get a chance at, but won't be traveling to, to finish off that 2%.
