Hi, can anyone recommend a remotely operated silent shutter camera , to be triggered manually from 15 metre range.

Ideally one which will give quality images?

Thanks

Zero sound, or mimimum sound?

Zero sound , electronic shutter preferably. Something very quiet might be ok...

Canon DSLRs require the shutter for still frames, so you get the sound of it closing, open close for the exposure, and opening again for returning to live view. It's pretty darn quiet.

The wireless phone app works well, but I don't think you're going to get 15m range without going through a powered router.

Wireless shutter release will get you that range, not sure if that would work with the mirror up/live view.

You can shoot in 4K video and then grab still frames at a decent resolution.

AF is another potential issue.

You could look at the mirrorless cameras with wifi control that have electronic shutter options. It won't be a Canon. Sony has what you're looking for and you can adapt nearly any glass to it if you already had something and just wanted a body.

Very best,

Very best,

This. I actually found I couldn't shoot my Sony in silent mode because the lack of shutter sound kept throwing me off. Zero noise with electronic shutter.

Just out of curiousity, what's the subject? I've photographed my fair share of shy critters and haven't yet found one that required zero shutter noise, not to say it's impossible though.

Goshawk , with camera one metre away from the bird, Panasonic could be my best option if it has a 15 metre wifi remote range https://youtu.be/YxTk7cqdWkw (external link)

That makes sense. Hope you have a good helmet to wear when you're setting it up, gossies don't play around.

I hope that works for you. Don't let it go into sleep mode, or the zoom will retract and cause a destracting noise. It's been sometime since I fimed with mine, but I believe there's an option to prevent it from "sleeping".
