Well I hope everyone had a nice holiday & more will come back this challenge soon.

Winners
1st- Teekay. While I said Brrrrr when I first saw this shot, I just love the whole scene. Nice job.

2nd - Stiga. I have been eyeballing that camera as well....let me know how you like it.

3rd- Trumper. It is a rare day when I write out a check anymore....the days of plastic have over-run the days of paper I am afraid.

Life is hard...but I just take it one photograph at a time.

Thanks, Maureen!

I found this a tough one. Couldn't think of anything "new" all week, then decided to go out to a local car dealership and take pictures of new snow on top of new cars. Brilliant idea but when I got there the lot guy had just finished clearing off all the snow on all the cars. Finally remembered I had a whole series of photos that I took years ago with my G1 at dawn approaching Valdez, Alaska on a ship. The light was absolutely fantastic and I regret I didn't take more (or keep the RAWs.)

Will get a new one up later today.

Maureen, I am very pleased with it. Previously I used a G12 and the G5 X has exactly the same articulated screen. In fact it feels very like the G12 in my hands but it has 2o Megapix and an EVF - which are a huge bonus.

Near and medium shots are fine but the focus is soft for infinity shots (but better than the G12):
1. Normal workflow with minimal PP

2. As 1 but extra PP with Topaz Derail

3. As 1 but with HiPass sharpening

Which do you prefer?

I have found one disadvantage with the EVF, I wear photochromic spectacles and, on a bright day, they become so dark that I have to take them off so that I can see through the viewfinder!

I regretted being unable to buy a Canon Lenshood but yesterday's against-the-light shots indicate that one may not be necessary: http://photography-on-the.net …p?p=18536926&i=i255195539

Congratulations to the three innovative contest players this week. Winners all!

Mo, I apologize for not playing...I tried and just came up a blank. A tough challenge for sure....but a very good one!

Regarding the G5X...I echo Matrin’s Comments. It is a very fine little camera with a near professional capabilities. In fair light it rivals my 7D and 17-55MM EF-S f/2.8 rig.

Jim -- I keep the G5X in the Glove Box just in case!
7D, G5X, 10-22MM EF-S, 17-55MM f/2.8 EF-S IS, 24-105MM f/4 EF L

Hello ALL & Happy NEW Year!

I wanted to take and submit a photo of the new year 2018, but no matter what.... I couldn't seem to get it ALL in my viewfinder.
Maybe, if I had set the exposure to 40-Trillion seconds?
In any case, hope to join back in to the activities soon.

Congrats Teekay on "Dawn Of A New Day"--- absolutely loved that shot.

Carlo
