RE: Ice beer. Well they may taste "watery", but they have a higher ABV then other lagers. The concept is that they're lagered at a frigid temperature: enough to freeze and subtract some of the water constituents (leaving more concentrated alcohol). It's a type of fractional freezing. Icehouse beer is now up to 6.9%: pretty high for a lite lager! If I'm going for a high ABV, I like imperial stouts that go to 10% or barleywines (hoppy American style) that go to 12%. Haven't tried the highest ABV beer: Sam Adams Utopias can reach 29%. Hear it's like drinking straight cognac....but since it's a limited run, fetches over $200 a bottle. Not worth it IMO if it's like cognac!
