One suggestion for shooting under LED lights, because they come in all colors and intensities...

I would shoot a custom WB and then use that for the rest of the session. This can help with the colors. There are 2 issues with LED lights, one is that they can hot spot due to their intensity, and they also reflect very heavily off the court, producing color shifts from whatever the floor has for wood or paintwork. LED is lighting is better to shoot under, but they come with some new complications.

One more suggestion for motion blur...

Many times action might be stopped at 1/1000, however those times players are in the air, unless you catch the peak of the action where gravity changes direction of the player, 1/1000th won't be fast enough. Over the years I went from 1/1000 to 1/1250 to 1/1600 to now 1/2000th. That is the speed where you can stop almost all motion including sweat in the air. It is possible to shoot the 7D at 6400 with some diligent NR, and this can give you a bit more shutter speed.

Nice shots! LED lights definitely provide some flexibility over old gym lights.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have shot at 6400 under the old lights. I may shoot again on Wed.

The coliseum that McNeese plays in has some great LED lighting. And everything you have said is true. I have the white balance figured out and it is pretty consistent and doesn't change from game to game.

But as far as the reflection part, there is a yellow border around the court and, if i take a shot of the cheerleaders, dance squad, or anybody else (especially if they sitting), I have to try to locally change the white balance to try to get rid of the reflected yellow light.

Even with that, I wouldn't want to go back to the old inconsistent lighting.
