Hey guys, so I have a weird occurrence with this lens. I took it out shooting one of the first nights I got it and found my infinity focus point, (between 10 feet and infinity) photos were SUPER sharp stopped down. Next day went and shot with it at a park, swapped lenses a few times, put the Samyang back on, and infinity had shifted to between the 2 and 3 foot mark.

Not sure what's going on with this lens, it seems really sharp but extremely annoying to use because I don't want to be having to find infinity for astro stuff every time I take the thing out. I didn't bump the lens, or damage it in any way, so I'm not sure why the focus would shift (we have had some temp changes here but this is really extreme). Not sure if this is normal or if I should proceed with the RMA I opened with B&H to exchange it for another one, or just give up on the thing as a whole

Camera gear stolen, currently shopping new stuff!

Samyang seems to have a very bad build quality, especially on the 14mm lens.
What color has the colored ring of your lens, gold or red?

From my understanding Samyang fixes two tubes together with some screws. They are only holding on the screw friction. When this friction is not enough, you may loose the infinity setting, or / and the lens alingment. It may be that the edges are no longer as good as before now.

I had one Samyang 14 f2.8 lens a yaer ago. Everything was blurry and the focus ring was not so good, infinity focus was miss alligned.

Heat can effect where the infinity focus mark will be, but the samyang 14mm lens, although it is a great cheap lens isn't perfect and does have some issues, one of them being the infinity focus mark not being calibrated close to infinity focus at all. A lot of people will focus to infinity in good light on a far away object and mark the spot with some tape, but again large temperature changes can alter where the mark should be.

Another common issue is decentering, where one of the lenses is knocked off center and will create an out of focus area, usually on one side or one of the corners.
