Hey all! I’m looking into buying a 5d Mark IV and always look to eBay for any good deals.

I’ve found a fair few listings ranging from $3,300 - RRP $3,700 which gives me confidence that they’re legit. Found one store with good reviews and good information and policies on returns and they’re honest about item shipping from HK to AU.

I’m comfortable buying from eBay usually but do you think a saving of $1,500 is too good to be true?!

Did you mean $2500 as B&H shows the 5DIV as $3300. If it shows as $1500 below legit stores, I'm sensing scam.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Or someone who bought legit and is piecing out the kit. Look for things like $$$ for a battery and things like that.

I'm assuming that where you are, the list price is approx. $5,000? Unless prices in your area range down to maybe $4,000 I would be very wary of a $3,500 camera listing.

For example here in the US that camera runs about $3,300 and one can get from an authorized dealer for roughly $2,800, so a $2,500 price would seem legit. a $2,100 price to me would likely be a red flag. Now of course this all depends on time of year as here the big retailers have done some incredible deals the last few years before Christmas.

Yeah in Australia they retail for $4,999AUD and I’m seeing them on eBay from anywhere between $3,300 and RRP.

The link to the listing I’m looking at is here:

So a reduction of $1500 would have me checking, double checking and maybe even more checking.

Buckeye,

Do you ever get heavily used gear and offer it for sale at low-end prices? . If so I would be interested in dealing with you.

Very rarely we take heavily used gears as trade ins because they are harder to resell. I did have two 1Dx over one million shots but were in 9 condition. Sold them for $1700 each six months ago.

That's exactly the kind of gear I am interested in - stuff that has a lot of usage, but is also very low priced. . In fact, the "9 condition" is actually a bit of a turn-off to me. . I would much rather find one in 2 or 3 condition with a million clicks for $1000 than one in 9 condition for $1700.

If you ever come across a used 5D4 that is really very very beat up and has tons of clicks, then I will be very interested in buying it from you.

Same goes for a 600mm IS v2 - if you have one that is all beaten and dinged and scuffed and scraped and even has scratches on the front element, then that will be the one for me, as long as the price is low enough.

Why don't you give him the price range that you willing to spend on a very very beat up used lens so you wont WASTE his time. So he can know what to look for. Don't expect to get a used 600mm Ver II for under 5,000.00
